PNW: San Juan Islands
This was the last sailing trip we took in May before we moved. I loved the San Juan Islands. It’s my most favourite place in the Puget Sound. It was different sailing in warmer weathers as we had a very interesting and scary November sailing where the knots hit 30! We ended up encountering some very interesting weather indeed.
This time we sailed to islands we had not sailed to previously. This was Matia Island, there was one other sailboat that docked besides us. I think they were learning how to sail a 40 ft boat as they had a teacher with them. We learned some new tying knots from them but they were super nice. I think we were on a Nautitech 42 for those who are interested. I tried to bring my trusted Fujifilm camera whereever I went so this sunset was shot with my new 10 – 24 lens. It was really pretty and quiet. There is a nice little hike with these great old growth trees.
Mostly was a stopping point to get back to Bellingham. We didn’t go as long as we wanted to because I broke out with a really bad eczema on my arms where my arms were in a lot of pain from inflammation but it had calmed down and being out in the water helped. More on how I dealt with managing eczema in a later post. It’s a long haul and I am still working through it.
I miss the PNW. I do love this new adventure we are on but I miss my west coast. It’s the best coast.
