Sketching Prompt: Crater

Wow, I am finally posting something on my blog.  I haven’t really dedicated as much time as I have to improving my site.  My day job that pays the bills is really taking over but I am trying to sketch more regularly even though it’s brief and I haven’t really posted it here except on instagram.  I have started following a really great illustrator artist Furry Little Peach is her website.  Her peachtober prompts and fun and sweet.  I came across her when she talked about burnout and how to cope through it as an artist.  I think I related to her in terms of my burnout from my more my day job in supply chain and during the pandemic I just worked so much and such long hours that I never took a real break.  Part of the reason I got into illustrating was a way to cope with my stress so I was really taken with Sha’an d’Anthes joyful and colourful art.  I just really found that my life needed colour for my happiness and even though my fear is that I am sucky drawer, I just kept at it because secretly I want to be a pattern designer and produce my own fabric to sew with.  Erm…more on that later as I am slooowly working on it.  Like I say, I have a day job.

Anyways,  here is one of the #peachtober23 prompts for today which is “Crater”.  I decided not to noodle over anymore as I am taking a course to just be looser with my sketching and not to fret over lines I think are “mistakes” and just learn from it and move on to the next thing.  These prompts are really allowing me to sketch regularly and consistently.

Been feeling blue this past week.  It’s been hard week on my own with a work being busy, alone with the kiddos and just cleaning the house and all the fun stuff of chores.  Oh yeah, add on top of that the kids were sick.

I encourage all of you keep drawing,  keep at your craft,  you will get better!  Experimenting is such joy.
