Making stuff at my jack of all trades desk

I am done noodling over my two landscapes.  They both have a very PNW (pacific northwest) vibe to it. The sea coast view and the mountains honestly look like Rainier when spring/summer hits.

Love the challenge of painting water.  These watercolour basics courses are really helping me as I used the salt technique on the sea coast.  It comes up with some really cool textures to enhance your watercolour sketch.

You just need to have it wet enough enough with some paint and then sprinkle some salt. The salt then absorbs the water and once it dries, you get these really cool textures you can’t quite get with a paintbrush.

Using pencil crayons to add some more fine details to the flowers on the mountain scape is a nice way to give some detail. Super big fan of mixed media art supplies. A white paint pen to enhance snow and also the break in the ocean waves.  Learning so much from this basics watercolour class.

I’m currently in the midst of moving, which explains my sudden disappearance from the sewing scene. My sewing machine and all the fabrics are buried deep in boxes, but luckily I’ve still got my trusty sketchbook by my side during this chaotic time. Speaking of which, I wanted to give you a sneak peek into my workspace where I work my magic–sketching, creating, and stitching up a storm!

This is where the magic happiness happens! Even if things get a bit wild, this is the spot where I bring all my sketches, sewing dreams to life and nerdy Excel spreadsheet or a thousand. You might call it a hot mess, but to me, it’s a beautiful chaos. Sadly, one less laptop is present after my work contract ended. Now, I’m on the hunt for a new gig, which is a full-time job in itself!

My desk is like a mini art studio, but I can’t squeeze everything in! My kiddo is trying to make a friendship bracelet while I ponder whether to sew or draw. With the move, my sewing kit is packed up, so drawing is a more practical option. But, I’m on the hunt for an overlocker/serger to make some rad projects like bathing suits and shorts. Any suggestions? I’m eyeing the Juki 104DN or 114DN, but I’m open to other options.

I recently snagged a Kallax shelf from IKEA to help organize my art supplies and crafts. I’m stoked to sort everything out and find my next project with ease. I’m all about checking out Pinterest for inspiration, like these creative spaces here, here and here. It’s amazing what people can do with their spaces!
